Essentially Flora is a disco album, but it is neither a retro pastiche nor a cold, modern imitation of moullknex sound; rather, Gomes has delivered a wonderfully-crafted selection of songs that marry timeless melodies with a deft production touch to create a music work that brims with positivity.

Moullinex's debut has clear influences from Moroder on show, and there are elements of Daft Punk in a number of places, but throughout the album, Gomes very much carves his own sound, creating a musical soundscape that brings together the best of disco, funk, soul and electronica from the last four decades with a defiant look towards the future.

Both albums were critically acclaimed and accompanied by the metamorphosis of Moullinex into a full live band, known for stellar live performances, from sweaty underground disco jams, over to intimate piano ballads and even Star Wars disco reworks. This notion all these artists share of respecting no boundaries, having a genre-less approach to music making was what pushed this Portuguese artist into creating the Moullinex alter-ego, under which he signed his first bootleg remixes of several indie acts.

He is a multi-instrumentalist, writer, producer and vocalist and Flora is an insight into his musical world, featuring an uplifting array of sun-drenched melodies and his own heartfelt vocals alongside those of female vocalists Iwona Skwarek of Rebeka and Da Chick.
